What is wrong with Cartier watches?

Really sorry, if it’s irrelevant.

I am wondering why there is so little coverage on Cartier watches? What is wrong with them? How do they compare to Rolex? Is there anyone here collecting Cartier?

Cartier watches look very elegant, I do not really understand the lack of popularity…

I was looking for cartier watch servicing and it was a big challenge to find a service shop in UK. Anyone had experience in UK for a watch repair especially Cartier watch?

Cheers,

Cartier often flies under the radar compared to Rolex, even though they’re iconic. Cartier focuses on elegance and design, especially with pieces like the Tank and Santos, which have a timeless, dressy vibe. On the other hand, Rolex leans more into durability and sportiness, which might explain their broader appeal.

There’s nothing wrong with Cartier watches—it all depends on what you’re looking for. Cartier is more about style, elegance, and brand heritage. They make timeless designs like the Tank and Santos, which strongly focus on fashion. But suppose you’re into the nitty-gritty of watchmaking, like innovative mechanics or in-house movements. In that case, Cartier might feel a bit lacking compared to brands like Patek Philippe or others that are known for their craftsmanship.
Cartier’s higher-end models, like the Ballon Bleu or Rotonde de Cartier, have impressive movements, especially their in-house ones. But if you’re comparing them to something like a patek philippe aquanaut replica, Cartier won’t be as much about cutting-edge watchmaking.
